Important Information

Posted by aslb on November 2, 2011

We would really like to see everyone create a user name and password for the BLET data base.  You can update your information from your computer and we can have current information on everyone.  Go to the web page at BLE.org or you can go through the quick link to your right on this page.  Once you get to the site, go to Members area on the left side of the page through the quick link.  After you get into the members area, you must create a user name and password.  It doesn’t take long to get this done and it would really help us to send accurate mail-outs and ballots for elections in the future.  Your e-mail address would also help us with the mobilization program that we are rebuilding.  Thank you for visiting the site and check back again for more updates.

76th Annual Southwest Convention

Posted by aslb on October 27, 2011

In September the 76th Annual Southwest Convention kicked off in El Paso, Texas.  Members attending from the State Board were Terry Todd, James Hoskins, Steve Christian, and Earles Carpenter.  It was another educational event that included many workshops for us to participate in throughout the week.  The classes included a local chairman workshop, secretary-treasurer workshop, and a legislative representative workshop.   We also attended a mobilization workshop that has helped us initiate our mobilization program within our General Committee.  It was a great learning experience because we all know things are constantly changing and it’s helpful to get insight from our National Officers.

Pac-Fund

Posted by aslb on October 27, 2011

Just a little reminder to everyone.  If you are not currently participating please consider helping with the cause of our union.  It doesn’t matter what party affiliation you belong to, we simply apply our Pac money to those who best suit our goals as workers.  If you have any questions regarding the Pac-Fund feel free to contact your Legislative Representative or any of us from the State Board.  It would be great to get 100% participation.  Everyone remember our strength comes from our numbers in active participation.

House Bill 1318

Posted by aslb on February 28, 2009

On February 27th, Governor Beebe signed House Bill 1318 into law.  We appreciate everyone’s input, that made this a success.  The bill passed the House 98-0, from there it went to the Senate where it passed 35-0 with an amendment added.  It went back to the House to adopt the amendment and passed on a vote of 100-0.  It will now be known as ACT 243 (The Safe Transportation of Railroad Employees By Contract Carriers Act). Today is a great day and a historic day for rail labor in the state of Arkansas.
